PADDLE. FISH. HEAL.
More than a tag line – it’s what we do, how we do it, and what happens thanks to our volunteers.
GIVE NOW so these heroes may experience the freedom and security they provide for us.
Heroes on the Water is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of active military service personnel, veterans and first responders. Launched in 2007, to date our programs have the following results:
When I was on the kayak, the pain disappeared. The feeling of being out there with other veterans and with people like me who had disabilities brought forth a healing power.
It doesn’t matter if you fish, or kayak. It’s an amazing program that has changed my life!
It’s a life changing event. After two visits I was able to shift my mindset toward shining a light on what was important.
It’s crucial we do everything we can to get those men and women in a space to be their best. It’s who they are, and coming home is tough. Warriors who fought for our freedom should now get to enjoy that freedom in the way they choose. It’s their right.
What I like about HOW is volunteers don’t push you to do anything. Everything is at your own pace and you can have as much or as little assistance as you want. Once I could first kayak and knew I did not need help, it really built my confidence.
