  • Nathan Franks
    Nathan Franks Interim CEO

    Chief Operating Officer Nathan Franks took on the Interim CEO role on September 1, 2018. Before becoming the COO, Nathan was involved in launching the Northwest Washington and Fort Hood Texas chapters. An avid kayak fisherman, he is an Army Officer and brings over 10 years’ experience in finance and program management.

  • Randy Ramler
    Randy Ramler Director of Administration and Finance

    With over 30 years U.S. and international experience in corporate accounting, finance and general management, Randy oversees the financial area of Heroes on the Water. He is a CPA with a Master’s Degree in International Management.

  • Amber Helms
    Amber Helms Operations Manager

    In addition to her responsibilities as Operations Manager, Amber and her husband Rusty lead the Northeastern Oklahoma chapter. During her 20-year military wife career her and Rusty lived and fished all over the United States and in several countries.

  • María Castañeda
    María Castañeda Area Coordinator

    Before Heroes on the Water, María was a Federal Agent, Computer Lab Manager and Assistant Community Outreach Patrol Officer. She and her husband Rudy lead the Rio Grande Valley Texas chapter.

  • Joe Winston
    Joe Winston Area Coordinator

    As one of the volunteers who worked in the early days of HOW alongside founder Jim Dolan, Joe has a long-time passion for Heroes on the Water. His current role allows him to do two things he loves – support others and kayak fish.

  • Jason Austin
    Jason Austin National Spokesperson

    Sargent First Class (Retired) Jason Austin raises awareness and educates on the topic of post-traumatic stress and veteran reintegration. SFC Austin spent the majority of his military career as a Military Policeman and is the recipient of the Purple Heart along with many other commendations.
