We are pleased to announce that Heroes on the Water will be #48072 on the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Charity List for 2014.
CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season (September 1st to December 15th) support eligible non-profit organizations like Heroes on the Water that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
Heroes on the Water (HOW) helps warriors unwind, rehabilitate, and reconnect with their family and community through kayak fishing outings that are physically and mentally therapeutic. The HOW program is not a one-time event, but rather an ongoing program that uniquely provides a healing outdoor experience and social support to help warriors in their journey home.
Our warriors say it best…“I know kayak fishing saved my life. I had a world convinced I was ok but my demons won more battles than I did. Kayak fishing gave me something to look forward to.” ~Jason Austin
HOW is reliant on financial donations from individuals, associations, and businesses along with the service of over 2,000 committed volunteers to deliver the program.
Having served over 9,276 warriors since 2007, the additional financial support from the CFC will boost expansion of the HOW program into new communities across the U.S. to reach the goal of serving 12,000 warriors per year.
Lots of folks had fun exploring our new website and participated in the contest. Three questions had to be answered to enter into a drawing to win a HOW t-shirt and hat. Here are the correct answers and where they can be found:
