Bring Your Veteran Community Outdoors
Heroes on the Water is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2007. Our mission is “To provide wellness and community to our heroes and their families through kayak fishing and the outdoors.” Through more than 50 volunteer-led chapters across the U.S., we host ongoing kayak fishing events for active-duty military, veterans, first responders and their families, at no cost and with no experience needed.
We partner with employee resource groups in two ways. Veterans, first responders and their families can join events at their local chapter and connect with fellow heroes nearby. Any employee can volunteer with a chapter, getting outdoors with coworkers and spending real time with the heroes they serve.
To get started, use the map below to find the chapters closest to your employees, then email the chapter leadership team to participate, volunteer or both. For help connecting your ERG with chapters across your locations, contact Mary Kathryn (MK) Metyko, Community Engagement Manager, at mk.metyko@heroesonthewater.org.
