Chief Operating Officer Nathan Franks will take on the role on September 1, 2018.
Dallas, TX, Release: August 30, 2018.
Heroes on the Water (HOW) announced that Nathan Franks, current Chief Operating Officer, will assume the role of interim Chief Executive Officer for the non-profit. HOW, a national 501(c)(3), provides therapeutic kayak fishing experiences to veterans, first responders and their families free of charge.
“As a long-time supporter and volunteer of Heroes on the Water, it is my honor to assume this interim role,” says Franks. “I look forward to serving our volunteers and community in this capacity.”
Franks will succeed William Carnegie, who will exit as CEO on August 31, 2018. Carnegie has led HOW since January of 2017 and is departing to explore other pursuits.
“The value of HOW to those we serve is immeasurable. I will hold very dear the stories and tears shared with me while in this role,” says Carnegie. “While the concept of kayak fishing sounds simple, the truth is HOW saves lives. I am proud to have been a part of this great organization.”
Franks has led the operations for HOW since November of 2015. Prior to that, he was instrumental in launching the Northwest Washington chapter in 2012. Today he continues to volunteer as part of the Fort Hood, Texas chapter. Franks is an Army Officer and has over 10 years’ civilian experience in finance and program management.
“We are pleased that Nathan is able to act as interim CEO for us,” says Dave Winston, Heroes on the Water Chairman of the Board. “I cannot think of anyone else who has his unique skillset and point of view. In his new role Nathan will be an even bigger asset to the organization.”
