Most anglers will attest to the therapeutic benefits of fishing. Whether a fisherman catches his limit or goes home empty handed, dropping in a line at his favorite fishing hole is usually more about fishing than it is catching fish.
Randleman Lake is one of those havens. And, on a sunny Saturday in May, the 3,000-acre reservoir welcomed a fleet of colorful kayaks manned by fishermen more accustomed to rifles than rods, but more than ready for a little fishing therapy.
Thanks to Heroes on the Water, injured Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans left the past — and the land — behind for a day of paddling, casting and camaraderie.
